My classmates Morgen McDonald, Kayla Hayek, and I created a yoga unit plan that we used to teach a split grade four/five class. The goal of our unit plan was to introduce yoga in a fun way for students that kept them engaged. The unit plan is filled with high energy games that teaches students different yoga poses and flows. Yoga is an activity that can tie well into a mental health unit because it can help teach students strategies to promote mental well-being and provide students with a chance to relax. We also created a rubric to help evaluate students for the yoga tag game in our unit plan.

I also created a PE lesson with my classmate Jenna Stacey. We created a lesson to teach to kindergarten students that would focus on spatial awareness. Spatial awareness is something students begin to develop at a young age and it is crtical for their development to include lots of opportunities to practice. This lesson also focuses on students’ development towards fundamental movement skills. If students do not begin to develop their fundamental movement skills at a young age it can be detrimental to students development when older.
